I read that Kate Middleton uses Palmer's Cocoa Butter to prevent stretch marks during her pregnancy. I really like that this company does not engage in animal testing, but the products are not all-natural (maybe they have an organic line?). Anyway, the Palmer lotion I have contains mineral oil, which is a type of petroleum oil, and also parabens, which are alleged to be potentially-harmful chemicals.

In short, stick with natural oils like coconut, palm, and vitamin E, especially if you are pregnant. I think you will be pleased in the long run.

Cher, Vitamin E is definitely a good choice. Other products, like extra virgin palm and coconut oils, are also good choices. It is important that pregnant women read the ingredients before they apply a lotion or cream to their skin. Products laden with parabens are not good for anyone, especially women who are pregnant. [br] [br]Truly, few individuals want stretch marks to occur; I have some and know they are far from attractive. But we must not put our health or the health of our children at risk by using products with toxins. This, undoubtedly, is worse than almost anything.

Perhaps there should be greater scrutiny with some of these companies that make bold claims about stretch mark disappearance but do not deliver. After all, no one wants to throw their hard-earned money away on products that do not work. From the research I have done concerning this topic, it still seems as if vitamin E is a good choice to try. Naturally, it does not work miracles (I doubt anything does). But it can fade certain stretch marks, especially ones that are still relatively new.

I think you are right in that companies should not advertise their products as being able to do something they cannot. However, because many of these products are not considered pharmaceuticals they are not monitored by the FDA and so do not have a strict set of guidlines for labeling and false claims. This allows them to make claims about their products that are specious in nature.

[p]Hey Dsciarappa-[/p][p]That's actually quite interesting.. I recently saw a friend of mine who is 6 months pregnant and I had actually asked her about stretchmarks and if she was worried about them.. she mentioned that she was told that none of the OTC 'treatments' really worked and so she wasn't really doing anything outside of moisturizing with lotion daily. In light of that conversation and this article that you posted, I have to wonder if perhaps it is all a scheme.. isn't there some sort of law stating that you can't falsely advertise something? so if these creams don't work, shouldn't they NOT tell people that it does work?? mrawr. [/p]

I came across this article on about different treatments for stretch marks.

Has anyone tried any of them and had successful results?

Does anyone have any other successful treatments that aren't included in the article? Please share!
