Thank you for the Lyme information. I know a few people who have Lyme disease, as well. It is a terrible condition because some people suffer needlessly before they are diagnosed.

A friend experienced assorted symptoms for some time and had multiple tests performed, but nothing could be found. Finally, after ten years or so, she was diagnosed with Lyme. The interesting part is they could only detect indications of the disease with a relatively new test that checks for Lyme bacteria DNA. Anyway, she occasionally got strange rashes that resulted in very minor scarring. Luckily, she is now receiving treatment for the condition and is somewhat better.

Lyme disease is a vector-borne illness (tick transmitted) that is increasing in the United States and elsewhere. The symptoms can be varied, and certain ones mimic other illnesses. Subsequently, Lyme disease is known by some to be "the great imitator."[br] [br]The more common symptoms? Joint pain, fatigue (sometimes chronic), brain fog, fever, flu-like illness, neck pain, knee pain, eye changes, muscle twitching, vertigo, IBS, and rash.[br] [br]Rashes associated with Lyme can manifest as a round ring near the site of the bite (not everyone infected with Lyme gets this type of rash). Lyme rashes can also occur about the body, and some itchy spots can leave minor marks or scarring. [br] [br]If anyone ever experiences bizarre, multi-system symptoms, explore Lyme as a possibility. Testing is not always accurate, so you may need to find a doctor who specializes in this area. I know a few people who were told they did not have Lyme only to find out more than a year later that they did (the third and fourth Lyme test finally showed positive--the prior tests were false negatives). Sadly, by the time they were diagnosed, the condition had become chronic.
