How to Get and Maintain Healthy Skin for the School Year

School is approaching and everyone wants to look their best when they return. Yet, sitting in the summer sun for too long can lead to unwanted acne. Here are some steps you can take to clear up your acne before going back to school.

Take Action
How To Maintain Healthy Skin
  • Drink a lot of water.
  • Stay away from caffeine.
  • Wear the right clothes when working out.
  • If you have oily skin, use oil-free sunscreen and lotions to help maintain a blemish free face and body. Many lotions have chemicals in them, so use natural and organic products. It is also very important to wash your face and body after exercising; dirt gets clogged in the pores, which in return causes blackheads.

In terms of food and beverage, drink a lot of water! It is extremely important to stay hydrated. When someone becomes dehydrated, dead skin cells can cause clogged pores. Simply drinking water is an easy way to avoid acne. Caffeine can also impact the way your skin appears. Items such as chocolate, coffee, tea and other caffeinated drinks may irritate the skin. So watch what you eat not only for bikini season, but for the healthiness of your skin as well!

Clothing is another important component to having clear skin. Your skin needs to breathe! Try wearing clothes that keep you cool and help you control perspiration, such as sweat resistant clothing and light summer outfits. Avoid wearing very tight clothing, as this may irritate the skin even more.

Going back to school can cause you to feel many things: happy, excited, nervous, thrilled, and most of all, stressed out. The more stress you feel, the more acne you get. Try to take time out of your day to meditate, stretch, breathe, and just relax. It’s amazing what a little relaxation can do for your complexion.

It is imperative to feel good about yourself and acne never helps. These tips not only help your skin, but also your confidence. Enter the brand new school year with a clear face and great self-esteem.
