Overview
Injectable fillers such as botulinium toxin, commonly known as Botox, can be used not only for skin rejuvenation, but to help promote the healing of facial wounds.
Detailed Description
Botulinium toxin works by relaxing the facial muscles that contract and cause lines and wrinkles to form. When a facial wound occurs, these same muscle contractions can lead to prolonged inflammation, longer healing time and more noticeable scars. The paralysis of facial muscles in a wounded area can be achieved with botulinum toxin injection, allowing the wound to heal more rapidly and with less irritation. This treatment, taking about 10 minutes in most cases, has been shown to result in less noticeable scars.
