The first step in avoiding sun damage is taking preventative steps to protect against it. If you’re planning to be in the sun, apply generous amounts of a high level SPF sunscreen. If you are exercising or swimming, re-apply sunscreen frequently and consider using a waterproof or sweat-proof formula. Don’t neglect especially sensitive skin such as your lips, ears, and tops of your feet. For people with sensitive skin, it may be a good idea to avoid heavy exposure to sunlight all together. In addition to sunscreen, utilize hats, umbrellas and sunglasses to protect your skin.
Once sun damage has occurred, different measures must be taken. If you notice differences in your skin including irregular patches or changes in texture, make an appointment to have it evaluated by a doctor.
