Contracture Scars
Patient Actions
Certain precautions can be taken to reduce the likelihood of developing a contracture. Following a burn injury, a splint can be worn on the affected limb or joint. This helps keep the joint straight and may prevent a contracture that impacts joint movement. In addition, exercise and movement can help prevent a thick, hard, tight contracture. A physical therapist will be able to guide you in appropriate exercises.
