Clinical Overview
Actinic keratosis, also known as solar keratosis, is a scaly or crusty bump that appears on the surface of the skin. It can be pink, tan, red, or skin-colored, and it is formed as a result of sun exposure. Actinic keratosis is a precancerous condition, with roughly 10 – 15 % of actinic keratoses progressing to squamous cell carcinomas.
